The Way of Dragons
Excerpt:
"But the wolf stops and looks into my eyes. Unaccountably, I feel sad. His eyes tell me that he is grateful for my concern, for my caring, for my willingness to help. He looks away, as if to look at the land for one last time, and then returns his gaze. I understand completely: that look is not mournful or reproachful – it says that here we lived and struggled and fought and were bound to each other through kinship. That there never was any regret. We died here. We left our bodies here, but our spirits have moved on. Only the land remembers us now." |
The Journal of a Magical Being -
who just happens to be a dragon! Imagine that you open your eyes one day and everything that you see is unfamiliar - so unfamiliar that you don't know what a body is or even know if you have one! As if you have lost your memory and don't know how things work, and so have to build up a picture of reality to make sense of the world.
It's a daunting task at first until you realise that you are self-reliant and have complete authority over your life. This is the opening to the book. It is the story of a visitor from another world: an amazing, magical being who is on a mission but first has to grapple with the concept that he doesn't know anything about himself. He knows only that he has arrived in a body and must grapple with thoughts and feelings, and discover what it is to have a sense of child-like wonder. As the title suggests, it chronicles the adventures of a dragon who seeks to bring greatness into people's lives and introduce them to the possibility that dragons are benevolent beings. At its heart, this is a tale of greatness: the desire to embrace one’s magical nature and dedicate one’s self to live with undying passion. |

Telepathy, sentiency, talking with disembodied spirits, travelling off-world, acts of magic and the miraculous - this book covers all of it in an entertaining style. It has been 9 years in the making; first words penned in January 2011 and published January 2020. It's a labour of love! It's also a chameleon of a book - at times philosophical and insightful into how we think, whilst also providing moments of humour and poignancy. The storytelling section is highly imaginative ... but then there is only way to find out if that is true!
